Artist Info



                 Anthony Tan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Influenced by the Asian culture, Pop Music, and his fellow Art idols, Anthony's work reflect how he sees and interprets "Beauty." He believes that not all Art requires the audience to closely analyze and/or critique it to gain an understanding, but it should naturally evoke emotion in the viewer.



                 Along with some of the more complex pieces he created, much of his portfolio also includes pieces that would be categorized as cliche and/or commercial. But Anthony strongly believes that just because something is "Cute," doesn't mean it can not evoke similar or the same strong emotion. Sometimes simplicity can produce a more intense sensation and appreciation of the work. Making it much more relatable to the audience.



                While working on "Cute" artworks, he has continuously worked on Portraiture. This is one, if not the most favorite genre of Art. Anthony has always been moved by many Portraits done throughout history and present. He believes that there is a romantic component to the piece while also immortalizing the subject depicted. Seeing how Classical Portraiture always had people pose in certain positions, he hopes to recreate or redefine "Classic Portraiture" in today's generation.



                 As Anthony continues to learn more about Art, he hopes that one day he will be able to move people with his own artwork as like many of the famous Artist before him. Hopefully through his journey, he will discover and reinvent classical aspects of Art and modernize it.
